Caring for Young Kids?
As someone responsible for the well-being of the children under your watch, you undoubtedly want the very best for them. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, guardian, or another closely involved individual, you may qualify for the Wisconsin WIC program. We take pride in our partnership with WIC, as we strive to support families with children under the age of five in their journey towards healthy eating and living. Our WIC services are bilingual, ensuring accessibility for all individuals residing in Waushara, Green Lake, and Marquette counties. Feel free to refer to our calendar (link) for more information on available dates.
We’re on a mission to:
- Help mothers have healthier pregnancies.
- Promote and support breastfeeding.
- Give kids the healthiest start to life.
- Ensure mother and children receive health screenings and necessary care.
- Support new parents and guardians with education, resources, and support.
The WIC Wisconsin Program provides these benefits:
- Nutrition education
- Nutritious foods such as: fruits and vegetables, milk, yogurt, cheese, eggs, whole grain foods (bread, tortillas, rice, pasta, oats), juice, cereal, beans, peanut butter and infant formula (WIC Approved Food Guide).
- Lactation consultations and support through the Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program
- Breast pumps are available to eligible clients
- Health screening and information/referrals for other community and social services, immunizations, doctors, dentists, and more
- Fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs provided in the summertime through the Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program
Who is Eligible?
To have WIC Eligibility in Wisconsin you must:
- Live in Wisconsin. We will not ask about your immigration status. You do not need to be a legal resident to participate in Wisconsin WIC.
- Be income eligible (view the income eligibility table here)
- Be one or have one or more of the following members in your family:
- Pregnant women
- Mothers with babies up to 6 months old, and women who have had a pregnancy loss up to 6 months postpartum
- Mothers breastfeeding babies up to 1 year old

Not sure if you qualify? You can use the online pre-screening tool from USDA found here to determine if you are eligible before you call. If anyone in your family is receiving FoodShare, Medicaid, BadgerCare Plus, Wisconsin Works Program (W2), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), you’re likely eligible!
Dads, grandparents, and other caregivers of children under the age of 5 may also sign kids up for WIC.
Foster children and Kinship Care recipients under age 5, and foster teens who are pregnant are eligible for WIC.
What’s considered low income?
Wisconsin WIC considers the size of your household and all the income sources you may receive.
For example:
- A single pregnant mother who earns an annual income of less than $23,828 may be eligible.
- A household of four with a child under 5 years old, living on an annual income of less than $49,025 may be eligible.
